radio control

Although I've toyed with RC (radio control) cars, boats and planes since I was about 10, my greatest interest has always been with aircraft. The problem was that even trainers where relatively larger (50" wingspan), required a large open place to fly, required lots of field equipment such as starters, batteries, fuel, fuel pumps and other hand tools. It always seemed like a chore loading up the car in order to get to the flying field, only to get there with the winds being too strong to fly!

Although electric planes have been around for a long time, they have never been high performance nor enjoyed long flight times.

All that has changed, thanks to the advent of brushless motors and Lithium Polymer batteries. My plane can fly anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes and I usually get tired flying the helicopter before it runs out of juice.
